The Serengeti is a part of Africa located mainly in Tanzania and extends into south-western Kenya. It is about 12,000 sq miles and is home to some of Africa's most famous animals. I was more than a little delighted when I learned that the Discovery Channel has a new series called Serengeti and it will feature the wildlife in that region. When I was seven years old there was a program called Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. That program was my first look at live giraffe. Animal programs went out of style in the early 70's and now, in 2019, we have people "game hunting" for thousands of dollars. Perhaps if they could see these beautiful animals in their natural environments they would be less inclined to kill them for sport. I hope everyone will be watching with me when I tune in on August 4 (two time slots- 5pm and 8pm) for the first episode "Destiny."
